The PS6 is rumored to launch between late 2027 and 2029. This follows the typical seven-year console cycle. It is expected after the PS5. Analysts like David Gibson suggest the PS5’s extended lifecycle and RAM constraints could delay it beyond 2028. Sony’s recent financial preview didn’t mention it, and there’s no clear date.

Expected Specs
Hardware will include an 8-12 core AMD Zen 6 CPU. It will have 30GB of GDDR7 RAM on a 160-192-bit bus. The system will feature an RDNA 5 GPU capable of 4K at 120fps or 8K at 60fps. Features may include upscaling and PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). There will be advanced ray tracing from the Radiance core. Additionally, artificial intelligence optimizations are expected. Improved haptic feedback may also be included. Backward compatibility with the PS5 and possibly the PS4 is anticipated.
Price Estimates

While shortages may increase the price, it’s expected to be around $600, similar to the previous generation. Sites are estimating availability in India using EMI, but there’s no definitive data.
Status as of today
Sony’s official site and blog are focused solely on updates like PS5 games, accessories, and Pro enhancements. There are no PS6 updates. AMD’s Project Amethyst appears to be in development through collaboration, but an announcement is expected around launch.

Global Estimates
Experts and leaks indicate that its launch price in the US will be $600 or more. It could be as high as $700–900. This is because of the high-bandwidth RAM and the PS3’s extremely expensive price. Most sources expect the Sony PS5 to have a lower price. It is estimated to be around $500 base (adjusted). However, several leaks suggest a price between $1,000 to $1,200.
